Second Deputy Sherriff assigned to Lt. Governor is COVID-19 positive

The Hawaii Department of Public Safety (PSD) was notified that a second deputy sheriff from the Executive Protection Section assigned to the Lieutenant Governor’s detail reported a positive test result. The deputy last worked on 9/10/20. On Friday, PSD reported the first positive test result for a deputy on the protective detail. 

Lt.Governor Ige and one of his staff was already diagnosed with COVID-19 and are currently in isolation.

PSD staff working in that section were notified and encouraged to contact their health care providers if they have any questions about possible exposure.  PSD notified the Department of Health (DOH) on Friday for contact tracing and continues to work with DOH.

Hawaii today reports 114 new coronavirus cases and 2 deaths.
